Texas Longhorns Eyeing Top 2026 Tight End Mark Bowman After Reclassific
As Texas Longhorns continue to build momentum toward securing the No. 1 recruiting class for 2025, the focus is already shifting to the future, and a major target has just reclassified and could be headed to Austin sooner than expected.
According to On3 Sports‘ Hayes Fawcett, 2027 tight end Mark Bowman has officially reclassified into the 2026 recruiting class and is already regarded as the top tight end prospect. Texas, alongside powerhouses Georgia, Oregon, and Alabama, is considered a frontrunner to land the talented prospect out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California.
At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Bowman is one of the fastest-rising names in prep football, drawing early comparisons to All-Pro Brock Bowers. After transferring from Colorado to Southern California, Bowman quickly made his mark in his sophomore season, racking up 435 yards and eight touchdowns on 32 receptions for the powerhouse Mater Dei program.
With his current ranking at 30th nationally in 247 Sports’ 2026 rankings, Bowman is expected to rise significantly and could even earn a coveted five-star status before the early-signing period in December.
Texas Positioned Well for Bowman’s Commitment
Texas is in an excellent position to secure Bowman’s signature after hosting him for an unofficial visit this past fall, along with visits to Georgia and Oregon. Steve Sarkisian’s offense has leaned heavily on strong tight-end play, with Ja’Tavion Sanders and Gunnar Helm emerging as key contributors in recent seasons. If Bowman chooses Texas, he could quickly become a top target for Arch Manning, who will be a senior in 2026, provided he returns for his senior year instead of entering the NFL Draft.
With Bowman’s reclassification, the Longhorns’ future recruiting class just got even brighter, and fans will be keeping a close eye on this rising star as recruitment heats up.
