“Clemson Legend Jim Stuckey Secures Spot in South Carolina Football Hall of Fame!”

South Carolina Football Hall of Fame Unveils Star-Studded Class of 2024, Including Former Clemson Standout Jim Stuckey

GREENVILLE, S.C. – March 11, 2025 – The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCFHOF) has officially announced its Class of 2024, featuring a lineup of legendary figures who have left an enduring impact on the sport. Among the honorees is Jim Stuckey, a former Clemson defensive lineman and San Francisco 49ers star. The prestigious enshrinement will take place at the 12th Annual Enshrinement Ceremony on April 17, 2025, at Hotel Hartness in Greenville, S.C.

This year’s celebration will not only honor these gridiron greats but also recognize outstanding contributors off the field, including the 2024 Humanitarian of the Year, Sabrina Greenlee, and 2024 Blanchard-Rogers Trophy winner Kyle Kennard. The event will highlight excellence, leadership, and the lasting legacy of South Carolina football.


Meet the SCFHOF Class of 2024

Troy Brown (Barnwell, SC / Blackville-Hilda High School / Marshall University / New England Patriots)

A three-time Super Bowl champion, Brown spent 15 seasons with the New England Patriots, cementing his legacy as one of the NFL’s most versatile players. The College Football Hall of Famer (2010) remains the only player in NFL history with at least 550 receptions, 250 punt returns, and an interception.

Jim Carlen (Legacy Inductee) Former South Carolina Head Coach & Athletic Director

A Gamecocks coaching legend, Carlen led South Carolina from 1975 to 1981, amassing 45 wins while recruiting future Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers. A National Coach of the Year (1973) and two-time Southwest Conference Coach of the Year, his legacy helped shape South Carolina football history.

Oliver “Buddy” Pough (Orangeburg, SC / South Carolina State University)

The winningest coach in South Carolina State history, Pough guided the Bulldogs to 146 victories, eight MEAC titles, and five HBCU National Championships over his 21-year career, including a 2021 Celebration Bowl championship.

Duce Staley (West Columbia, SC / Airport High School / University of South Carolina / NFL Star & Coach)

A Gamecocks fan favorite, Staley enjoyed an illustrious NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers, earning a Super Bowl XL ring. Now a Cleveland Browns running backs coach, he also won Super Bowl LII as a coach and continues to uplift single mothers through his Catch 22 Foundation.

Jim Stuckey (Cayce, SC / Airport High School / Clemson University / San Francisco 49ers)

A Clemson Tigers legend and First-Team All-American, Stuckey was a first-round pick in the 1980 NFL Draft. His game-sealing fumble recovery in the NFC Championship Game helped the 49ers secure their first Super Bowl title—one of two he won during his career. After football, he built a successful real estate career while remaining dedicated to community service.

    A dedicated advocate for domestic violence survivors, Greenlee has transformed lives through her S.M.O.O.T.H. Foundation.

    This prestigious award, presented by Ellison Kibler Merrill Lynch, honors the most outstanding collegiate football player with ties to South Carolina.
  • 2025 Bridge Builder Excellence Award Finalists – Presented by Spinx
    Recognizing student-athletes who exemplify leadership, academic excellence, and community impact, shaping the future of South Carolina.
