MiLaysia Fulwiley has never shied away from embracing her identity while making waves on the basketball court. As she leads South Carolina deeper into the NCAA Women’s College Basketball Tournament, she remains focused on adding another championship to her resume.
Now in her second season with the South Carolina Gamecocks, Fulwiley has established herself as a crucial playmaker for one of the nation’s most dominant programs. And alongside her impressive performances on the court, she proudly shares her personal life.
Fulwiley’s girlfriend, JaMeesia Ford, is an accomplished track and field athlete, representing South Carolina at the collegiate level. Together, they form a dynamic power couple within the Gamecocks’ athletic department, each excelling in their respective sports.
Ford has already claimed international success, winning a PanAm gold medal in the 4×400-meter relay for the United States. Meanwhile, Fulwiley continues to shine on the basketball court.
Under the guidance of Dawn Staley, Fulwiley delivered a stellar sophomore campaign, finishing as South Carolina’s second-leading scorer for the 2024-25 season, averaging 12 points per game. She also led the team in steals and ranked fourth in assists. Her freshman year was equally impressive, as she earned SEC Tournament MVP honors and secured a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
With her stock rising, Fulwiley’s days with the Gamecocks could be limited, as a WNBA future seems inevitable. But first, there’s unfinished business in March Madness.
As the No. 1 seed in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Tournament, South Carolina has championship aspirations. And with Fulwiley on the court, she will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in their quest for glory.
