“Agot Makeer and Ayla McDowell Are Going Global—Here’s When and Where to Watch Them Ball Out”

If you missed your first glimpse of South Carolina’s newest stars during the McDonald’s All-American Game, you’ll have another shot this weekend. Agot Makeer and Ayla McDowell, two of the Gamecocks’ high-profile incoming freshmen, will take the court again—this time at the Nike Hoop Summit on Saturday night.

Although both players were born in the United States, they’ll be suiting up for the World Team in the prestigious showcase event.

Agot Makeer has spent much of her life living in Canada and holds dual citizenship, allowing her to compete internationally for Team Canada. Meanwhile, Ayla McDowell is eligible to represent Brazil due to her mother’s Brazilian heritage.

Before tip-off, the athletes have spent the week engaged in high-level practices and skills development sessions, preparing for one of the most competitive stages in youth basketball.

The Nike Hoop Summit will be broadcast on USA Network and streamed via Peacock, with coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET. The women’s game tips off at 7:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game around 10:00 p.m. All games will take place at the Moda Center in Portland, the home of the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers, and a future host for the 2028 NCAA Tournament Regionals and the 2030 Women’s Final Four.

Last year’s game featured a standout performance from another South Carolina standoutJoyce Edwards. Representing Team USA, she delivered a record-breaking performance with 25 points and nine rebounds, both Nike Hoop Summit records, while also tying for the team lead with two assists in a thrilling 83–80 comeback win over the World Team.

With Makeer and McDowell stepping into the spotlight, Gamecock fans have plenty to be excited about. The future is bright, and it’s already putting on a show.
