South Carolina guard Te-Hina Paopao is heading to the WNBA, selected by the Atlanta Dream with the No. 18 overall pick in the second round of the 2025 WNBA Draft on Monday night. She will now join forces with former South Carolina standout Allisha Gray in Atlanta.
Paopao, who transferred from Oregon to South Carolina, played a pivotal role in the Gamecocks’ historic 2024 season, which ended with an undefeated record and a national championship. That season, she led the nation in 3-point shooting at 46.8% and earned All-American honors.
In her final year with the Gamecocks, Paopao averaged 9.4 points per game, consistently contributing as a reliable scoring option. Draft projections had her going anywhere from No. 6 to No. 17, making her selection at No. 18 just outside expectations.
Paopao is the first Gamecock selected in this year’s draft, with teammates Sania Feagin and Bree Hall still waiting for their names to be called.
