Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has admitted that he may personally decide to challenge Rodri’s dismissal for violent behavior on Saturday.
A confrontation with Morgan Gibbs-White resulted in the Spanish defensive midfielder’s dismissal from the match between Manchester City and Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium less than 60 seconds into the second half.
Within the first minute of the second half’s play, the two collided by the corner flag. Rodri was subsequently judged to have put his hands on the attacking midfielder for Nottingham Forest’s throat and was given a straight red card by referee Anthony Taylor.
Manchester City’s mainstay in defensive midfield will be absent from the team’s next three games for “violent conduct,” which include a trip to play Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup, a game against Wolves on the road at Molineux, and a trip to face title contenders Arsenal in October.
Manager Pep Guardiola was asked if he thought the team would appeal the decision to send off Rodrigo after Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola said, “I have to talk with the club.

Pep Guardiola displayed his surprise when the matter was brought up to him following the game because he had no idea that Rodri would automatically receive a three-game suspension under Premier League rules.

(Assuming you don’t appeal.) Automatic three games Ah, don’t worry, he’ll be ready after Arsenal.”.
In a reassuring statement to those alarmed by Rodri’s absence, Guardiola did reiterate that City will play against Arsenal with 11 players as usual.
“We’ll play with 11 at the Emirates Stadium, that’s for sure, Guardiola said.”.
In a Carabao Cup third round matchup on Wednesday night at St. James’ Park, Manchester City will make their return to action against Newcastle United.
Given the squad’s ongoing injury concerns, this matchup will put Guardiola’s first-team options to the test.
Bernardo Silva and John Stones are both expected to miss the game as they continue to recover from injuries, and Kevin De Bruyne is not expected to play again until early 2024 after having surgery in August for a hamstring injury.
