FC Barcelona is well aware of the predatory nature of the football industry. Despite their impending financial difficulties, La Blaugrana are still actively searching the transfer market. But with their high-profile targets drawing interest from other suitors, Barcelona’s life is never too easy.
As such, when it comes to chasing big names and hot names, clubs should always be early rather than late. Claudio Echeverri, a young Argentinean man who has gained a lot of attention, is one such name. Numerous elite clubs have been keeping a close eye on him after his remarkable performances in the Under-17 FIFA World Cup.
Among the numerous suitors for the Argentine is FC Barcelona. Furthermore, the athlete has openly expressed his admiration for the Blaugrana team. But it appears that the English Premier League poses the greatest threat to this “failed” partnership.
According to Gianluigi Longari, an Italian journalist, Manchester City is very interested in Echeverri. They are prepared to fulfill the player’s €25 million release clause because they are that invested. They have great faith in the player, and City wants to start the young Argentinean player.
For FC Barcelona, the situation is still a little different, though. The talented midfielder is wanted by the Catalan giants, but they are unable to pay his release clause. Although other options have been investigated, River Plate, the player’s current club, does not appear to be interested.
Barcelona’s goal is still to delay as long as possible. Barcelona has cause for optimism in light of the player’s recent admission that he will not be signing a new contract with River Plate.
The player’s current contract expires in December 2024, at which point it becomes free agent. Man City still intends to step in far earlier than that, though.
