Barcelona intends to profit from Eric Garcia the following summer.

Eric Garcia, a versatile 22-year-old Spanish defender, is reportedly someone Barcelona will cash in on during the summer transfer window.

A report from the Spanish publication SPORT suggests that Eric Garcia’s faltering Barcelona career may not be salvaged. The adaptable 22-year-old defender is prepared to leave the defending La Liga champions during the summer transfer window of 2024. If Girona manages to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, they may be able to sign him to a long-term contract.

Eric Garcia: Resurrecting His Girona Career

Following his summer transfer from Barcelona to Girona, Eric Garcia has established himself. To finalize a loan agreement at Estadi Montilivi, the Spanish international had to wait until the last few hours of Deadline Day. However, since relocating to Girona across Catalonia, he has not turned back.

The 22-year-old is a flexible defender with the ability to play holding midfielder and center back. Garcia has contributed one goal and 15 appearances this season, making him a vital member of Girona’s squad. Real Madrid is ahead of the Catalan club in La Liga due to goal differential, but he has contributed to their ascent to the top.

Unquestionably Girona’s first-choice starter, Garcia will play a key role in helping the team place in the top four of La Liga this year. However, his achievements might not be sufficient to secure him a place in Barcelona’s defense for the 2024–2025 season. Rather, the current La Liga winners are prepared to profit from him.

Barcelona Is All Set to Discard Eric Garcia

The Catalan giants’ never-ending problems are still causing them great financial hardship. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Barcelona will let go of the adaptable 22-year-old defender despite his stellar performance for Girona. Eric Garcia’s stock should rise once more, which will help Barcelona financially.

Two and a half years ago, Barcelona acquired the Spanish international for nothing from Manchester City. Thus, any money that the current La Liga winners are able to recover will be considered a profit.

If Girona finishes in the top four at the end of the season, he will probably go on the attack for a long-term contract.
