Official: Cesare Casadei from Leicester City is recalled by Chelsea

Chelsea has unexpectedly called up young Cesare Casadei from his loan at Leicester City in a rather surprising move. Since joining Leicester in August, Casadei has played in all but three of the team’s games. He has started eleven of them, scored three goals in his 25 appearances overall, and also provided a few assists.

Having started consecutive games since the year 2024 began, he appeared certain to continue making a significant contribution for the Championship leaders despite their deficiency in midfield players.

Just last week, after the player grew accustomed to the challenge of playing for the Foxes, manager Enzo Maresca spoke highly of the 21-year-old’sprospectsfor this season and beyond.

Every time Cesare performs, we are overjoyed. He’s not old. He must get better. He’s going through the right process. With Cesare, we couldn’t be happier. We are confident that he will assist us over the coming months.

It seems that Mauricio Pochettino wants to “include him in his 25-man squad for the second half of the Premier League season,” which is why Leicester is bringing Casadei back. Honestly, unless we’re planning to farm out Lesley Ugochukwu or do something absurd with Conor Gallagher, that sounds a little fantastical.

In any case, let’s hope this isn’t another Nathan Aké scenario, who returned from a productive loan at AFC. Antonio Conte signed Bournemouth in 2017, and he spent the next six months as a bench warmer before deciding to leave for good the following summer.

Cesare Casadei, a midfielder for Chelsea, will be called back from his loan at Leicester City to rejoin Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup. Casadei made 25 appearances for Leicester, who lead the Championship #cfc, scoring three goals.
