Man Utd Make Bold Move for Federico Chiesa—Will Barcelona’s Interest Derail Transfer?

Manchester United have already secured four new players this summer, but they might not be done yet before the August 30 deadline.

While their main focus remains on securing a defensive midfielder, they are also eyeing attacking talent, with Juventus’ Federico Chiesa at the top of their list. Reports suggest that United have made an offer for the Italian forward, though he might lean towards a move to Barcelona due to their interest and potential complications with his registration.

Chiesa, who struggled with a serious knee injury during his time at Juventus, had a solid 2023/24 season, netting 10 goals and providing three assists in 37 appearances. Known for his versatility, Chiesa can play effectively as a second striker or on either wing, making him a valuable asset for any top European club.

However, given United’s current squad depth—featuring players like Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Joshua Zirkzee, and Rasmus Hojlund—signing Chiesa might be less of a priority unless a high-profile departure occurs before the transfer window closes.

Sancho has been linked with a potential exit, but no formal bids have been received yet. Despite Chiesa’s talent, it seems unlikely he will move to Old Trafford, especially since he seeks regular playtime which United may struggle to guarantee.

Chiesa, available for £13 million as he enters the final year of his Juventus contract, could also be a target for other top European clubs. The speculation surrounding his future might be driven by his agent to generate interest from various teams.
