South Carolina forward Sakima Walker enters transfer portal

South Carolina forward Sakima Walker is officially on the move, entering the transfer portal with a “do not contact” tag—signaling that her next destination is already chosen, according to On3’s Talia Goodman.

BREAKING: South Carolina’s Sakima Walker has entered the transfer portal with a ‘do not contact’ tag,” Goodman reported. “Sources told @On3sports.”

The 6-foot-5 senior just wrapped up her fifth year of college basketball. During her two seasons with the Gamecocks, Walker appeared in 46 games, though she never started. Her time on the court this past season was limited due to injuries, featuring in only 15 games and averaging 5.6 minutes and 1.4 points per game.

Thanks to a blanket NCAA waiver granted to former JUCO players, Walker will be eligible to compete in the 2025-26 season, despite technically exhausting her eligibility.

Walker becomes South Carolina’s first portal exit of the 2025 offseason. She expressed heartfelt gratitude for her journey in Columbia, sharing an emotional message on social media:

So much love for my time at South Carolina! Huge thank you to Coach Staley, the entire staff, my teammates, and FAMs. Grateful for every moment, every lesson, and every bit of love. Nothing but respect and appreciation for this chapter, forever a Gamecock.”

While her on-court impact may have been limited, Walker’s presence and spirit clearly left a lasting mark on the program.
