Despite a slow start, Arteta is “convinced” that the £65 million Arsenal star will succeed.

Despite the midfielder’s trying start to life in North London, Mikel Arteta is “convinced” that Kai Havertz will succeed in an Arsenal shirt.

When the Gunners spent about £65 million on Havertz from Chelsea this summer, they were taking a risk.

While at Stamford Bridge, Havertz displayed some flashes of brilliance, and he will always be remembered for his decisive goal against Manchester City in the Champions League final.

He struggled in some of the same ways in his early years at Arsenal, and he was largely inconsistent throughout his time with Chelsea.

There has been much discussion about Havertz and his best position ever since he entered the Premier League.

Along with players like Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, Arteta has been using him on the left side of a midfield three.

Insisting that Arteta still has faith in the German superstar, football journalist Julien Laurens has offered an intriguing perspective on the player.

Through The Boot Room, Laurens said, “Again, I think he needs more time Havertz. The fact that he has used four different left-backs so far this season—Kiwior, Zinchenko, Tomiyasu, and Timber—might not seem significant.

“Having different left-backs with various profiles play behind you every time you play on that left side is not helpful when you are on the left side.

“I believe he will arrive. Arteta is confident that he has the talent to succeed in that position at the number eight, as he is skilled in training.

“In games he lacks a lot, but Arteta is happy with him and he adds a lot of balance to this team as well. I think he will improve.”.

While Laurens continues to believe that Havertz will succeed, other experts aren’t persuaded by what they have observed of the 24-year-old thus far.

Havertz’s contribution to Man Utd’s goal against Arsenal last weekend didn’t impress Roy Keane.

When they clear it, they get a brief respite, according to Keane.

“Obviously bad play, sloppy, Havertz in midfield – then they’re in trouble.

When Rashford attacks defenders who are facing their own goal, they are in serious trouble, as you can see. Marcus is going to always come back in on his right, so Arsenal needs to improve their defense.”.
