QB Guru Ramon Robinson Breaks Down LaNorris Sellers, Luke Doty, and Cutter Woods

Few people have had a closer look at South Carolina’s quarterbacks than Ramon Robinson, one of the Southeast’s most respected private QB trainers. Robinson, who has worked with a long list of top college and high school signal callers, recently shared his thoughts on the Gamecocks’ quarterback room — and his insight on LaNorris Sellers in particular continues to add fuel to the Heisman buzz surrounding the sophomore star.

Robinson began by highlighting what makes Sellers such a unique talent. “LaNorris is different,” he explained. “You don’t often see a quarterback with that size, that speed, and that calmness in the pocket all rolled into one. His growth from last year to now has been incredible. He’s smarter with the football, more decisive, and you can see the leadership maturing in him every day.”

The trainer pointed to Sellers’ ability to extend plays as one of the biggest advantages South Carolina has going into the 2025 season. “It’s not just about what he can do with his legs,” Robinson said. “It’s the way defenses have to respect his ability to turn a broken play into a touchdown. That opens up the whole offense.”

But Robinson didn’t stop at Sellers. He also gave props to veteran Luke Doty, the reliable utility man who continues to carve out a role for himself. “Luke is the guy every program needs,” Robinson said. “He’s steady, he’s experienced, and he’s one of the best teammates out there. Whether he’s asked to play quarterback, receiver, or special teams, Luke’s attitude and work ethic set the tone for the younger guys.”

As for freshman Cutter Woods, Robinson made it clear that the future is bright. “Cutter is raw, but the tools are there,” he noted. “He’s got a live arm, and he’s picking up the playbook quicker than most people realize. Being in that QB room with Sellers and Doty is only going to speed up his development.”

Robinson’s overall assessment paints a positive picture of South Carolina’s quarterback depth chart. Sellers may be the centerpiece and Heisman hopeful, but the support around him makes the position group one of the most promising in the SEC. “When you’ve got a guy like LaNorris leading the way, with Luke as a stabilizer and Cutter waiting in the wings, you’ve got something special,” Robinson concluded.

With the 2025 season fast approaching, Robinson’s words echo the growing optimism in Columbia. If Sellers continues the trajectory Robinson has seen, the Gamecocks may be looking at one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in program history — and a shot at rewriting expectations in the SEC.
