Former Gamecock Star Bree Hall Reflects on Roller-Coaster Rookie Season in the WNBA
Former South Carolina guard Bree Hall is closing the book on her first WNBA season, and by her own words, it was anything but ordinary. Hall, who entered the league as part of the Indiana Fever, opened up about the highs and lows of her rookie year while expressing excitement for what lies ahead.
“Year 1 ✅ My rookie season was a true journey, being waived, placed on different teams, and still finding ways to grow and compete!” Hall shared. “I’m proud I was able to make an impact and even put up playoff points in my first year.”
Despite facing the challenges of roster moves — being waived and shifting between teams — Hall showed resilience, managing to contribute when it mattered most. She noted that finding ways to continue competing through adversity was one of the most valuable lessons she learned in her first year as a professional.
The former Gamecock also gave a heartfelt shoutout to Fever Nation, praising the fan base for its loyalty and support throughout the season. “The Indiana Fever fan base was truly amazing. Your energy and support made every moment special,” Hall said, emphasizing how much the community lifted her during uncertain stretches of the year.

Equally important to her journey were her teammates, whom she described with deep gratitude. “To my teammates love y’all so much 🩷✨! Through all the ups and downs, I’m grateful for every opportunity and excited for year 2!”
Hall’s rookie season was capped with a notable highlight — scoring playoff points in her very first postseason appearance, a milestone she described with pride. While her role evolved throughout the season, she made sure to take advantage of every chance to prove herself on the court.

Looking ahead, Hall is already preparing for what comes next. “This is only the beginning… offseason grind has started ❤️!” she said, signaling her determination to return stronger in Year 2.
For South Carolina fans who remember her as a steady contributor under Dawn Staley, Hall’s perseverance is no surprise. Now, with one WNBA season under her belt, she looks poised to turn early challenges into long-term success.
