A heated rivalry turned violent Wednesday night at Angel Stadium, when a Los Angeles Dodgers fan was attacked in the stands during the Freeway Series — leading to two arrests.
The incident, caught on video, shows a man in a Dodgers jersey being sucker-punched by someone in a black shirt. The blow knocked him back into his seat, and seconds later, another man kicked him in the head.
Anaheim Police said the fight “appears to have started over the stealing of a hat,” though it’s unclear who took it. Officers arrested two men in their mid-20s. One faces a misdemeanor assault charge, while the other — identified as the primary aggressor — was booked for felony assault. Their names have not been released.

The victim declined transportation to a hospital after the game, and it’s unknown whether he later sought medical care.
Tensions were already running high between fans that night. In a separate incident, Dodgers supporters got into a heated argument along the third-base line, though security intervened before things turned physical.
Despite the chaos, it was a memorable night for the Angels — who completed a sweep of the season series against their cross-town rivals.
