“Despite Chaos in Columbia, 4 Star TE Commit Caden Ramsey REFUSES to Walk Away — ‘I’m 100% Locked In!’”

South Carolina’s season has been anything but smooth. Assistant coaches have been fired, and the sting of blowing a 30–3 lead still lingers around the program. Yet through all the turmoil, Cross High School star Caden Ramsey has remained one of the program’s most unwavering supporters.

The senior tight end, who pledged to South Carolina on September 8, hasn’t hesitated or reconsidered his commitment—not even as the Gamecocks have stumbled to a 3–7 record and parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike Shula and offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley. Speaking Wednesday at the South Carolina Basketball Coaches preseason media day at Brooklyn-Cayce, Ramsey sent a message loud and clear: he’s not going anywhere.

“South Carolina is home and definitely going to stay home, no matter how bad the record is or how they play,” Ramsey said. “I committed for a reason. They love me, and I love them. I’m 100 percent committed.”

He added, “I committed for a reason and that is where I am going to be.”

Ramsey credits head coach Shane Beamer and assistant coach Shawn Elliott for creating the kind of connection that can withstand the chaos of a rough season. Even as the Gamecocks lost two commitments in the 2026 class—Jamel Howse decommitting and Amari Thomas flipping back to Florida State—Ramsey has remained a symbol of stability.

He stays in frequent communication with the Gamecock staff and has attended several home games this fall. He also plans to be in attendance for Saturday’s matchup against Coastal Carolina and the following week’s rivalry game versus Clemson.

In a season where little has gone right statistically or on the scoreboard, Ramsey’s steadfast commitment represents the intangibles that keep a recruiting class intact. For Shane Beamer and his staff, this type of loyalty is the foundation needed to push the program forward, no matter how turbulent the present moment may be.
