“Eli Drinkwitz Drops Bold Prediction on LaNorris Sellers Ahead of South Carolina–Mizzou Clash”

Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz and his Tigers are chasing a third straight 4-0 start as they prepare to host South Carolina on Saturday at Faurot Field.

Whether the Gamecocks will have star quarterback LaNorris Sellers available remains uncertain after he exited last week’s 31-7 loss to Vanderbilt with a concussion. But if you ask Drinkwitz, he expects to see No. 16 under center.

“I anticipate LaNorris to play,” Drinkwitz told reporters Tuesday, per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Eli Hoff.

Sellers entered 2025 with Heisman buzz following a breakout redshirt freshman campaign last fall. He led South Carolina to a 9-4 finish with marquee wins over Texas A&M, Clemson, and Missouri. His performance against the Tigers in 2024 was among his best: a 21-of-30 night for 353 yards and five touchdowns, plus 45 rushing yards on 14 carries in a 34-30 Gamecocks win that snapped Mizzou’s five-game streak in the series.

Before leaving the Vanderbilt game, Sellers was sharp, completing 6-of-7 passes for 94 yards but throwing one interception. Veteran Luke Doty, who has been with the Gamecocks since 2020, stepped in to finish the game. Doty went 18-of-27 for 148 yards with a pick and added 20 yards on the ground across nine carries.

Meanwhile, Missouri is rolling into the matchup at 3-0 after hammering Louisiana 52-10 in Week 3. The Tigers’ offense is averaging an explosive 51.6 points per game, setting the stage for another high-scoring showdown in Columbia.
