“ESPN Analysts Downplay Cade Klubnik, Claim LaNorris Sellers Surpasses Him as Top Draft Prospect”

ESPN Analysts Rave About LaNorris Sellers Ahead of 2025 Season Opener

The buzz around South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers is only getting louder. This week on ESPN’s Get Up, a panel of analysts broke down the nation’s top draft-eligible quarterbacks for the 2026 NFL Draft, and Sellers quickly became the centerpiece of the discussion.

Draft insider Field Yates didn’t hold back in his praise, declaring that Sellers has the highest ceiling of any quarterback in the country. Yates also agreed with host Mike Greenberg, who suggested that Sellers is more talented than Clemson’s Cade Klubnik.

“LaNorris Sellers from South Carolina… He’s gigantic. He looks almost like an NFL tight end,” Yates said. “Some of the things he’s able to do, both with his mobility outside the pocket and his movement inside the pocket, are hard to coach — maybe even impossible to coach.”

Yates pointed to last year’s Palmetto Bowl victory over Clemson as a prime example of Sellers’ ability.

“They won that game 17–14, and LaNorris Sellers had 16 carries for 166 yards and two touchdowns,” Yates recalled. “There was some real Houdini magic within the pocket. He’s got unbelievable size, great speed to match it, and he makes ‘wow’ plays all over his tape.”

Louis Riddick: “Sellers Has It All”

Analyst Louis Riddick, who will be part of the broadcast team for Sunday’s South Carolina–Virginia Tech clash, also weighed in. Highlighting Sellers’ arm strength, he pointed to one of the quarterback’s earliest career moments.

“Just look at this throw,” Riddick said while watching a clip. “I know people will point out the level of competition—I believe this was against Furman—but watch how the ball travels. It’s 55–60 yards on a rope. There are only a handful of people on the planet who can make that throw.”

That pass, which came on Sellers’ second career attempt, went for a 50-yard touchdown. For Riddick, it was an early sign of what was to come.

“He’s only gotten better since [the throw against Furman], and he’s going to light it up this Sunday on national TV against Virginia Tech,” Riddick predicted.
“[Sellers] has it all.”

Draft Outlook

Sellers enters 2025 as a redshirt sophomore, meaning he has two years of eligibility left after this season. Still, if he produces at a first-round level, the NFL could come calling sooner rather than later.

For now, Sellers and the Gamecocks are focused on Sunday’s season opener against Virginia Tech. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. in Atlanta, with the game airing on ESPN and streaming live on the ESPN app.
