The South Carolina Gamecocks narrowly missed defending their national title this past season, but head coach Dawn Staley is already reloading for another run. That effort includes a strong push on the recruiting trail — and one of the top names in the 2026 class has South Carolina in her sights.
Jacy Abbi, a highly-touted forward in the 2026 cycle, recently revealed her top 10 schools, and the Gamecocks made the list. Joining South Carolina are UCLA, LSU, North Carolina, Texas, Notre Dame, TCU, Duke, Tennessee, and UConn.
Abbi is considered one of the elite prospects in her class. She’s a four-star recruit ranked as the No. 10 overall player in the nation, the No. 4 power forward, and the top player in Texas, according to composite rankings.
South Carolina hasn’t secured a commitment in the 2026 class yet, but Abbi is clearly a major target.
The Gamecocks are coming off a strong 2024 recruiting haul that ranked fifth nationally. That group included five-star talents Agot Makeer and Ayla McDowell, a top-30 prospect. They also added standout transfer Ta’Niya Latson, a former five-star from Florida State.
Thanks to Staley’s leadership and national success, South Carolina has become a powerhouse program — and that prestige continues to draw interest from elite recruits like Abbi.
