COLUMBIA — French standout Alicia Tournebize, a 6-foot-4 rising star known for her ability to dunk, made an appearance on the sidelines before South Carolina’s Nov. 22 football game.
South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley appeared on the jumbotron during the game, and standing close to Tournebize were assistant coach Jolette Law and director of player development Freddy Ready — a clear sign the Gamecocks were hosting the international prospect.
At just 18 years old, Tournebize is already competing professionally with Tango Bourges Basket. While her social media doesn’t confirm any specific college interests, she is widely viewed as a potential pick in the 2027 WNBA Draft.

Back in October, Staley posted a photo on X featuring a recruit wearing A’Ones — the signature Nike shoe designed for South Carolina legend and four-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson.
The caption read: “Currently checking out a recruit somewhere near Paris but not in Paris….and would you look at what’s on her feet!”
Shortly after, Tournebize was tagged on Instagram wearing the same A’Ones, even with her socks folded identically to the mystery player in Staley’s post — only fueling speculation about the Gamecocks’ interest.

Staley often brings top recruits to South Carolina football games whenever schedules align. She hosted Kaeli Wynn during a September matchup, and the No. 17 prospect in the 2026 class has since signed with the Gamecocks.
She later welcomed No. 5 prospect Jerzy Robinson to a game in October, and Staley is still pushing to secure Robinson’s commitment.
