“Gamecock Coach Finally Breaks Silence Through Attorney after Devastating Car Crash — Update Shocks Fans”

COLUMBIA — South Carolina defensive line coach Travian Robertson has issued a public statement through his attorneys, sharing an update on his condition and recovery following a devastating car accident on Aug. 22.

Robertson suffered what his representatives described as “severe and life-changing injuries,” requiring five surgeries to repair both internal and external damage. The crash occurred when another driver, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, veered across the center line and struck Robertson head-on.

In his statement, Robertson expressed deep gratitude for the support he has received:

“Kettiany, our three boys, and I sincerely appreciate the outpouring of prayers and support we have received from the community in the weeks since my accident. It has been and will continue to be a journey, but I am grateful to God my life was spared. My current focus is on recovery and rehabilitation so I can get back to being the husband, father and coach I am called to be.”

The Robertson family also extended thanks to the first responders, medical personnel, and bystanders at the scene, as well as the staff at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

Robertson was discharged from the hospital on Sept. 5, following a 14-day stay that included 10 days in intensive care. His family has asked for privacy as he continues his long rehabilitation process.

Attorney Shea Brighthop of Cavanaugh & Thickens, LLC, who represents the Robertsons, emphasized the difficult road ahead:

“Our clients are facing an uphill battle including medical treatment, rehabilitation, and tremendous life change. It is our honor to advocate and investigate zealously for the Robertson family.”
