South Carolina Offers 2028 EDGE Prospect Luke Nabors After Impressive Visit to Columbia
South Carolina added a new name to its recruiting board this weekend as 2028 EDGE prospect Luke Nabors walked away from his visit with a fresh scholarship offer from the Gamecocks.
Nabors, a sophomore standout from Buford High School (Ga.), has been to Columbia multiple times, but this visit felt different — and more rewarding. His time at Williams-Brice Stadium and with the Gamecock coaching staff clearly left a strong impression.
The 6-foot-4, 202-pound pass rusher already boasts nearly 20 Power Five offers, including interest from Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State, Texas A&M, Auburn, USC, Michigan, and Miami, among others. So far, those programs have emerged as major players in his early recruitment.
Speaking with GamecockCentral, Nabors said he was impressed by the Gamecocks’ defensive coaching staff and the electric stadium atmosphere, adding to the growing buzz around South Carolina’s strong recruiting weekends.
Nabors, nicknamed “Extendo” for his long arms and rangy frame, plays for one of the premier high school programs in the nation. Buford High has produced several college stars — including South Carolina freshman linebacker AJ Holloway, a 2025 signee.

A versatile defender, Nabors lines up both as a hand-in-the-dirt defensive end and a stand-up outside linebacker. His elite burst off the edge and wingspan make him a disruptive force against opposing quarterbacks, though he’s also shown a willingness to engage physically at the line of scrimmage. As he continues to develop and add muscle, scouts believe he could evolve into a dominant two-way defender capable of stuffing the run and collapsing pockets.
According to the Rivals Industry Rankings, Nabors is rated the No. 174 overall player nationally in the 2028 class, the No. 20 EDGE prospect, and ranks No. 20 overall in Georgia. Though currently a three-star recruit, his rising trajectory and production have many expecting a four-star bump in future evaluations.
With Nabors now holding an offer from South Carolina, the Gamecocks have positioned themselves as a serious contender early in his recruitment — a promising sign as Shane Beamer’s staff continues to build relationships with the next generation of defensive stars.
