The overhaul is officially underway — and it’s not just the football roster getting rebuilt. Williams-Brice Stadium is entering a brand-new era. Heavy equipment is already on the move, demolition teams are in place, and the long-awaited modernization of one of college football’s most iconic venues has begun in full force. Over the coming days, Gamecock fans will witness real, visible progress as Phase 1 of the Williams-Brice Stadium Reimagination Project shifts from the drawing board to active construction.

This initial phase centers on completely redesigning the general concourses and the student section. The first portion of the renovations is set to be ready before the 2026 season kicks off. It marks an ambitious start to a multi-year effort designed to transform South Carolina’s game-day atmosphere and reshape the stadium experience for generations of supporters.

Early work is already happening behind the scenes, including major demolition efforts such as:
- Removal of the East Ground Level Slab
- The tearing down of the Southwest Ramp
- Demolition of the Floyd Building
- Completion of all major demolition by January 5

Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati emphasized just how significant this milestone is, calling it “a new day for the program,” an energizing moment for Gamecock fans, and a reflection of the school’s dedication to delivering a “modern, elevated experience for both fans and student-athletes.” He also highlighted that, thanks to the university’s partnership with Blanchard Machinery, the construction efforts are moving with deliberate speed and precision.

While Phase 1 lays the structural foundation and reshapes essential areas of the stadium, the larger vision will eventually introduce upgraded premium seating, new fan amenities, and enhanced features designed to elevate every aspect of the Williams-Brice Stadium experience.
