South Carolina running back Rahsul Faison has officially been cleared by the NCAA and will suit up for the Gamecocks this season. The decision came Monday, just days before the season opener.
Following the news, Faison’s agent, Bryan Miller, issued a statement praising his client’s perseverance through the long wait.
“Despite the uncertainty, Rahsul never stopped working and he’s been locked in since the moment he got to Columbia,” Miller said. “We all know how much this means to him and we are all excited to see him against the Hokies in Game 1.”

Faison, who transferred to South Carolina earlier this year, has been practicing with the team throughout the month while awaiting word from the NCAA. With his waiver now approved, he is officially cleared to take the field when the Gamecocks kick off their season.
The timing couldn’t be better for South Carolina, which is looking to replace last year’s leading rusher, Rocket Sanders. Faison immediately steps in as the program’s top option in the backfield after rushing for 1,109 yards and eight touchdowns on 198 carries last season. His ability to produce big plays makes him one of the most important pieces of the Gamecocks’ offense heading into 2025.
South Carolina opens its season against Virginia Tech on August 31, where fans will get their first look at Faison in garnet and black.
