“LaNorris Sellers Set to Spark South Carolina’s Offense in Return at Missouri”

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers looks poised to return this weekend, according to a joint update from On3’s Pete Nakos and ESPN’s Chris Low. Nakos reported that Sellers “continues to trend towards playing on Saturday at Missouri, barring a setback.”

The optimism surrounding his availability grew stronger after Sellers took part in Thursday’s practice. That backs up ESPN’s Pete Thamel’s Wednesday report and head coach Shane Beamer’s “optimistic” label following Sunday’s media availability.

Sellers, the reigning All-SEC quarterback, went down in Week 3 against Vanderbilt after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit. The play drew a targeting flag, and Sellers did not return to the game.

South Carolina issued its first SEC-mandated availability report on Wednesday night. Sellers was listed as “questionable,” while defensive back Judge Collier (doubtful), tight end Michael Smith (doubtful), and wide receiver Mazeo Bennett (questionable) also appeared on the report.

The Gamecocks (2-1, 0-1 SEC) are preparing for the annual Mayor’s Cup clash against Missouri (3-0). The Tigers, led by Eli Drinkwitz, enter as 10.5-point favorites according to BetMGM, though they have yet to play a conference game this season.

South Carolina claimed last year’s meeting in Columbia, S.C., in dramatic fashion. Sellers shined in that 34-30 victory, piling up nearly 400 yards of offense and five total touchdowns.

This year’s rivalry showdown shifts to Columbia, Missouri, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. Fans can also stream the matchup through the ESPN app.
