Live updates: South Carolina: 7 Clemson: 14 (Second Quarter)

South Carolina and Clemson meet again on Saturday at noon EST for the 122nd Palmetto Bowl, renewing one of college football’s oldest rivalries. The Gamecocks enter as the defending holders of the Palmetto Bowl Trophy, but Clemson still controls the all-time matchup with a 73-44-4 series lead.

South Carolina is looking to snap two droughts at once: its first home win over Clemson since 2013 and its first victory over a Power Four opponent since September. At 4-7 (1-7 SEC), this marks the Gamecocks’ final outing of the season. Clemson, meanwhile, sits at 6-5 (4-4 ACC) and already has a bowl bid lined up. Both sides arrive with momentum after last weekend’s wins — Carolina over Coastal Carolina and Clemson over Furman.

Below is a breakdown of the early action and how the rivalry kicked off at Williams-Brice Stadium:

First Quarter

South Carolina: 0 | Clemson: 0

[15:00] — Clemson wins the toss and chooses to receive. After a touchback, Cade Klubnik finds T.J. Moore for a big gain across midfield on the game’s opening snap. A penalty wipes out a third-down conversion later in the drive, forcing the Tigers to punt.

South Carolina’s first possession doesn’t last long — a quick three-and-out gives the ball right back to Clemson.

Second Quarter

South Carolina: 0 | Clemson: 7
[12:37] — The Tigers strike first. A major third-down pickup puts Clemson in scoring position, and Adam Randall finishes the drive with a rushing touchdown.

South Carolina: 7 | Clemson: 7
[11:14] — LaNorris Sellers answers immediately. The freshman quarterback uncorks a deep ball to Nyck Harbor for a 53-yard touchdown, tying the game in just three plays.

South Carolina: 7 | Clemson: 14
