“NFL Shocker: Projected as Top-10 Pick in 2026 NFL Draft: The Athletic Calls Him ‘Most Physically Impressive QB in the Class’”

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers is quickly emerging as one of college football’s hottest NFL prospects. The redshirt sophomore has drawn national attention for his rare combination of size, arm strength, and athleticism — and now, one major outlet sees him as a potential top-10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

In a recent mock draft from The Athletic’s Nick Baumgardner, Sellers is projected to go No. 6 overall to the Cleveland Browns. Baumgardner described the Gamecock signal-caller as the “most physically impressive quarterback in the class” and suggested that if Sellers continues to progress, he “could even push for the first overall pick.”

If this prediction holds true, Sellers would be the second quarterback off the board, behind Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, whom Baumgardner slotted at No. 2 to the New Orleans Saints — the current home of former South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler.

Interestingly, Cleveland already selected two quarterbacks in the 2025 draft — Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders — but another poor season could push the Browns to reset once again at the position.

Sellers still has two years of eligibility left, but his name continues to surface in early draft discussions. Analysts such as Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates have also hinted that Sellers could emerge as the top quarterback prospect in 2026.

For now, Sellers and the Gamecocks are enjoying a bye week, before returning to action next Saturday with a road matchup against LSU — another key stage for the rising star to showcase his first-round potential.
