Mount Canaan Baptist Church Donates $10,000 to Support Grambling State University
Grambling State University received a significant show of community support this weekend as Mount Canaan Baptist Church made a generous $10,000 donation to the institution.
During Sunday service, President Lemelle had the honor of addressing the congregation, sharing updates on the university’s mission, its growth, and its vision for the future. His words emphasized the importance of partnerships between higher education and the faith-based community, highlighting how such bonds can directly strengthen opportunities for students.
Following his remarks, the leadership of Mount Canaan Baptist Church surprised President Lemelle and the GSU family with a $10,000 check. The funds are designated to invest in the university’s continued development and student success.
“Moments like this remind us that we do not walk alone in building a stronger Grambling State,” President Lemelle said. “We are deeply grateful to Mount Canaan for their generosity and belief in our mission.”
The contribution comes at a pivotal time, as Grambling State continues to expand its academic programs, enhance campus resources, and increase scholarship opportunities for its students. Support from faith and community partners like Mount Canaan plays a vital role in sustaining that momentum.
GSU extended its heartfelt thanks to the church for standing with the university in its efforts to prepare the next generation of leader.
