South Carolina football is gearing up for one of its toughest matchups of the 2025 season — a road trip to face No. 3 Texas A&M — and as expected, Vegas doesn’t like the Gamecocks’ odds.
According to BetMGM, South Carolina opened as an 18.5-point underdog for Saturday’s clash in College Station. The over/under for the game is set at 48.5 points, reflecting expectations of a high-scoring contest dominated by the undefeated Aggies.
The matchup carries major implications for Shane Beamer’s squad, which sits at 3–6 overall (1–6 SEC) and needs to win its final three games to achieve bowl eligibility. A victory over A&M would not only keep that hope alive but also mark one of the biggest upsets of the Beamer era.
“We know what’s at stake,” Beamer said earlier this week. “It’s about playing disciplined football, finishing strong, and giving ourselves a chance every single quarter.”
South Carolina’s three victories this season came against Virginia Tech, South Carolina State, and Kentucky, while the team has fallen to Vanderbilt, Missouri, LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ole Miss.
Meanwhile, Texas A&M remains unbeaten at 9–0 (6–0 SEC) after a dominant 38–17 win over Missouri. The Aggies are eyeing a College Football Playoff berth and will aim to keep their momentum rolling at home, where they’ve been nearly unbeatable this season.
The Gamecocks do, however, have some recent history of success against the Aggies. In last year’s meeting, South Carolina’s offense exploded for 530 total yards in a 44–20 upset over then-No. 10 Texas A&M. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers led the charge with 244 passing yards and 106 rushing yards, while Rocket Sanders added 144 yards on the ground. That stunning win sparked a strong finish to the season and derailed the Aggies’ playoff hopes.
This time, though, the Gamecocks face an even tougher test — a top-three team, on the road, in a venue where South Carolina has never won. The Gamecocks are 0–5 all-time at Kyle Field, and Saturday’s noon kickoff on ESPN will give them another chance to change that narrative.
To keep their postseason dreams alive, the Gamecocks will need another near-perfect performance — and perhaps a little magic — in College Station.
