Thursday injury report: New status for Judge Collier, Brady Hunt

The SEC released its second official injury report on Thursday evening, and South Carolina’s list of available players looks a little different compared to Wednesday.

Cornerback Judge Collier has officially been ruled out, while tight end Brady Hunt was upgraded to probable after both were initially listed as doubtful.

Head coach Shane Beamer provided clarity during his call-in show Thursday, saying, “Everyone but Collier is expected to be available vs. Vanderbilt on Saturday.”

That’s good news for the Gamecocks, as defensive backs Vicari Swain, Brandon Cisse, and Jaquel Holman—all listed as probable earlier in the week—were not on Thursday’s report, meaning they are cleared to play.

South Carolina was already shorthanded in its win over SC State, missing Collier, Jalon Kilgore, and JT Geer. The game only added to the list of injuries, with Cisse, Swain, Hunt, Holman, and Josiah Thompson all exiting and not returning.

According to Beamer, Kilgore, Geer, and Thompson are all on track to play against Vanderbilt. His biggest concern coming out of Saturday was Hunt, the veteran tight end who left the game early.

Collier, meanwhile, remains sidelined. He played just nine snaps against Virginia Tech before suffering his injury and was later seen on crutches with his knee in a cast. Geer also exited that matchup, leaving in the second half while clutching his shoulder after recording a sack.

Because this is an SEC game, both South Carolina and Vanderbilt are required to submit availability reports throughout the week. The next update will be released Friday around 8 p.m., with the final designations coming 90 minutes before kickoff.

The reporting system, introduced by the SEC last year, applies to football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball. Schools must provide updates in the days leading up to games, with penalties ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 in football and $15,000 to $25,000 in basketball and baseball for inaccurate or late reports.

Player designations follow an NFL-style model: available, probable, doubtful, and questionable before game day; then available, game-time decision, or out on game day.

Both South Carolina (2-0) and Vanderbilt (2-0) will put their perfect records on the line Saturday night at 7:45 p.m. inside Williams-Brice Stadium, with the game broadcast on SEC Network.
