COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley is adding a new chapter to her storied legacy — this time, as an author. Her latest venture, a memoir titled “Uncommon Favor,” dives deep into her personal and professional journey to becoming a national championship-winning coach with the Gamecocks.
While the book celebrates Staley’s numerous triumphs, it also shines a light on the struggles and setbacks that helped shape her. She opens up about a heartbreaking childhood experience that fueled her relentless determination, and shares how a serious health scare nearly ended her coaching career before it truly began.

“Uncommon Favor” isn’t just about wins and championships. It’s about the personal battles, the growth, and the unwavering faith that carried me through it all,” Staley explained during the interview with Judi Gatson.
To mark the release of her book, Staley will be appearing at a sold-out event in Columbia on May 29, where fans will get a chance to celebrate her story and her impact both on and off the court.
