“Winning Isn’t Enough, Have it Happen on Game Day’”: Mike Shula Challenges Gamecocks’ Offense”

COLUMBIA — For South Carolina, Saturday’s matchup against Vanderbilt could be about more than just securing another win. Ranked No. 11 nationally, the Gamecocks have handled business through two weeks, but questions still linger about the offense’s ability to truly click.

This part of the season is less about simply surviving and more about proving that the offense can produce at a high level — piling up points instead of scraping by.

Offensive coordinator Mike Shula acknowledged the inconsistency but stressed the effort he’s seeing from the unit in preparation.

“We see it every day in practice, and today was another good example of guys just really working hard,” Shula said. “We just got to continue to work hard and have that happen on game day more than it’s been, more than we’ve had happen.”

As South Carolina prepares for its SEC opener under the lights at Williams-Brice Stadium, the pressure is on for Shula’s group to turn practice progress into game-day execution.
