Clemson’s Brad Brownell Shuts Down Indiana Coaching Rumors
As the Indiana Hoosiers continue their battle for an NCAA Tournament bid, speculation is already swirling about who will take over as their next head coach. While some programs, like Florida State with Luke Loucks, have already secured their hires, Indiana’s search remains up in the air.
However, it seems that every time a potential candidate’s name surfaces, they quickly shut down the rumors. Brad Stevens and Dusty May have already distanced themselves from the job, and now, Clemson head coach Brad Brownell appears to be doing the same.
When asked about the Indiana vacancy during a recent press conference, Brownell made it clear that he’s not looking to make a move.

“I’m not going to talk about potential jobs, I have a great job,” Brownell said. “I am 100% focused on this team and what we have ahead of us, and I’m doing everything I can to help us win the next game.”
Brownell’s Legacy at Clemson
Brad Brownell has been at Clemson for 15 seasons, and his deep ties to the school extend beyond basketball—both of his daughters have attended the university. His tenure includes four NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by a Sweet 16 run in 2018 and an Elite Eight appearance last year in 2024. He has also led the Tigers to four NIT berths, meaning Clemson has made the postseason in eight of his 15 seasons.
Would Brownell Be a Good Fit for Indiana?
The Hoosiers are desperate for a coach who can deliver consistent postseason success, something Brownell has demonstrated. Yet, despite his proven track record, he seems comfortable staying put at Clemson—at least for now.
Of course, coaching searches are unpredictable, and circumstances can change quickly. If Indiana is unable to land a top candidate, they may continue to pursue Brownell or shift their focus to other targets.
For now, though, Indiana fans will have to wait—nothing is likely to be finalized until their season officially comes to an end.
