Online, college hoops fans — especially loyal Gamecock supporters — lit up social media with excitement over the team’s early performance and what it signals for the upcoming 2025–26 NCAA season.

“Can’t wait till the new season, we ’bout to run the table,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “Great job, ladies! Way to represent the standard. Gotta say looking forward to ‘26 and Tessa killing the perimeter, Chloe’s new midrange game, Joyce dominating the post, and Mouse showing us why she’s an elite future #1 PG.”

“Stay the course ladies!!,” one user exclaimed.

“WORKIN’,” another fan simply posted.

Fans on X (formerly Twitter) also lauded how fun the Gamecocks are to watch in this format:

“This is a ton of fun to watch.”

“Looking good watching every minute,” one user wrote with enthusiasm.

Another chimed in, “This crew is fking fire.”**

Led by legendary coach Dawn Staley, the Gamecocks aim to carry this summer momentum into the regular season, where they’ll be chasing their third national title in five years.

Before dispatching JMU, South Carolina delivered the largest win of the tournament so far, crushing San Diego State 21-5 — a 16-point blowout that tied for the highest margin of victory across all women’s pool play.

The team is using the offseason to regroup after a disappointing finish to their last campaign. Despite entering the 2025 NCAA tournament as the reigning champions, they fell to the UConn Huskies 82-59 in the national title game on April 6. South Carolina still ended with an impressive 35-4 overall record and 15-1 in SEC play.

With young stars like Tessa Johnson, Chloe Kitts, Joyce Edwards, and “Mouse” McDaniel sharpening their skills in the offseason, expectations are sky-high for what’s to come.
