Olivia Miles Shakes Things Up with Transfer to TCU, Addresses Rumored Rift with Ex-Teammate Hannah Hidalgo
Former Notre Dame standout Olivia Miles has been making waves lately, first with her surprise decision to skip the 2025 WNBA Draft and then by entering the transfer portal, eventually landing at TCU. Now, she’s back in the spotlight after being named to Team USA’s 12-player roster for the upcoming AmeriCup competition in Santiago, Chile, which tips off on June 28.
In a fun behind-the-scenes clip posted by Team USA on Instagram, Miles brought the energy and humor during a lighthearted interview moment featuring South Carolina freshman star Joyce Edwards and Utah guard Gianna Kneepkens.

“She’s (Edwards) stealing my screen time,” Miles joked. “We had a pretty chill morning ’cause we got in obviously and we all slept, we were tired. We attacked today, we had a great practice. G (Gianna Kneepkens) actually killed it, we did some plays, we did some defense. Now we’re about to go eat and sleep.”

Kneepkens backed her up, adding,
“I mean, she (Olivia) killed it. Everyone had a great day, you know. We got some rest in, we’re ready to go for tomorrow.”
Miles & Hidalgo: From Teammates to Rivals?
One of the most intriguing storylines heading into next season is the evolving dynamic between Olivia Miles and her former backcourt partner Hannah Hidalgo, who together helped lead Notre Dame to a Sweet 16 appearance this past March.
After Miles opted to transfer instead of turning pro, rumors swirled about a potential rift between the two stars. Tension appeared to spill over during a preseason WNBA game between the Dallas Wings and Las Vegas Aces, where they reportedly exchanged heated words.
Despite both being named to Team USA’s AmeriCup roster, the buzz surrounding their relationship hasn’t faded. The two were seen training side-by-side in photos posted on Instagram—but fans still speculate about their chemistry off the court.
In an Instagram Live session, Miles downplayed the drama, while Hidalgo added some edge in her own interview with Sportskeeda’s Mark Medina:
“It was good for her that she (Miles) addressed it. However she wanted to address it, it was good for her to address whatever the fan had said,” Hidalgo said. “You know, it was her decision. If that’s what she thought the best decision for her was, then that’s what is best for her.”
Looking Ahead
With both Miles and Hidalgo set to return to the college hardwood on different teams—Miles at TCU and Hidalgo likely staying at Notre Dame—the stage is set for a high-stakes, emotional showdown between two of women’s college basketball’s most electrifying guards.
Whether the rivalry is real or just fan-fueled, one thing’s for sure: Olivia Miles isn’t done turning heads, on or off the court.
