Five-Star OL Darius Gray Sets Commitment Date — South Carolina in Strong Position
One of South Carolina’s top recruiting targets is closing in on a decision. Darius Gray, the highly-coveted five-star offensive lineman, revealed to Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett that he will officially announce his college commitment on August 22nd.
Gray recently narrowed his list to five finalists: South Carolina, LSU, Tennessee, Ohio State, and Clemson. While all five programs remain in contention, South Carolina and LSU are believed to be leading the pack.
According to reports, both schools are “feeling optimistic” about their chances to land the elite lineman.
A Strong Gamecock Connection
If visits are any indication, the Gamecocks have built a serious bond with Gray. He’s been to Columbia more than 10 times during his recruitment—more than any other school. His most recent trip was an official visit in June, which aligned with several other South Carolina targets and commits, including:
- J’Zavien Currence
- Jamel Howse
- Sequel Patterson
- Landon Duckworth (four-star QB, now committed)
A Top National Prospect
According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Gray is the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the country and ranks No. 31 overall nationally. He’s also considered the No. 2 overall prospect in Virginia.

Standing 6-foot-2.5 and weighing 285 pounds, Gray brings a rare combination of athleticism and strength to the trenches. A true two-way force at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, Gray plays both offense and defense — and also dominates on the basketball court. He earned State Prep Player of the Year honors in both football and basketball last season, underscoring his elite athletic profile.
O-Line Class Building Momentum
South Carolina already has three offensive linemen committed in the 2026 class, including:
- Kamari Blair (four-star tackle)
- Zyon Guiles (four-star interior lineman)
- Anthony Baxter (in-state IOL with a strong frame and long-term upside)
Landing Gray would further elevate what’s already shaping up to be a dominant offensive line haul for the Gamecocks.
All eyes now turn to August 22, when Darius Gray will make his long-awaited announcement — and South Carolina fans have plenty of reason to be hopeful.
