Jaycee Horn Misses Panthers Practice After Car Accident — But There’s Good News
Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn was absent from Wednesday’s practice following a car accident earlier in the day, the team confirmed. The former South Carolina standout was alone in his vehicle when the incident occurred near the intersection of Mint and Moorhead Streets in Charlotte.
Fortunately, no one involved in the accident required transportation by emergency medical services. The Panthers’ medical team assessed Horn on-site and decided to hold him out of the joint practice session with the Cleveland Browns as a precaution.
Adding to the relief, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Horn was present on the field, watching practice from the sidelines.
Horn made headlines this offseason by signing a massive $100 million contract extension, briefly becoming the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. Drafted No. 8 overall by the Panthers in the 2021 NFL Draft, Horn has steadily developed into one of the league’s top defensive backs.

Last season, Horn played in a career-high 15 games, racking up 68 tackles, 13 pass breakups, and one interception — efforts that earned him his first Pro Bowl selection. In 2022, he recorded 53 tackles, seven pass deflections, and three interceptions in just 13 games.
A dominant force during his college career at South Carolina, Horn totaled 101 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 23 pass breakups, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles over three seasons with the Gamecocks.
