The Golden State Valkyries parted ways with former South Carolina star Bree Hall on Monday, officially waiving her and bringing her second stint with the team to an end.
Hall had signed a seven-day hardship contract with Golden State on August 27, after the team was hit by a wave of injuries. One of those injured players, forward Monique Billings, has since recovered, and her return to the active roster meant Hall had to be released.
During her latest run with the Valkyries, Hall was available for two games and saw action in one. She logged five minutes against Washington but did not record any stats.
This was Hall’s second opportunity with Golden State. Her first came from June 18–30, when she joined the Valkyries as a replacement player while teammates competed in the EuroBasket tournament. She appeared in two of the five possible games during that stretch, including one memorable moment when she played in front of her college coach Dawn Staley.
Hall’s WNBA debut included her first career basket—a smooth runner that was part of a three-point performance. In her second game, she went scoreless but grabbed a rebound.
Originally selected 20th overall in the second round of the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever, Hall showed flashes of her scoring ability during the preseason. She dropped nine points in a game against the Brazilian national team but was waived by Indiana the following day.
At South Carolina, Hall built a reputation as a winner and a clutch performer. Nicknamed “Big Shot Breezy,” she helped the Gamecocks capture two national championships, four SEC regular season titles, and three SEC tournament crowns. She was also a starter on the undefeated 2024 national championship team, with her defense and timely shot-making standing out.
Hall was the second of three Gamecocks selected in the 2025 draft. Te-Hina Paopao, the first of the trio, has thrived in Atlanta, carving out a role as a part-time starter for one of the league’s best teams. Sania Feagin, the final Gamecock drafted, has seen limited minutes with Los Angeles.
