South Carolina opened its season with a big win over Virginia Tech in Atlanta, but one Gamecock walk-on linebacker may have taken his celebration a little too far.
Andrew Colasurdo, a reserve defender who primarily contributes on special teams, marked the victory with a social media post that directly mocked Hokies linebacker Caleb Woodson and his recent off-field troubles.
Woodson, a preseason Butkus Award candidate, had a strong 2023 campaign with 72 tackles, two sacks, and an interception. But just a week before Virginia Tech’s opener, he was arrested on a DWI charge. Head coach Brent Pry responded by stripping Woodson of his captaincy, though he still played in the opener. Woodson finished with six tackles, but it wasn’t enough to stop South Carolina from pulling away.

Colasurdo made sure to highlight that. After the game, he posted a slideshow of photos from the win, set to Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”—Virginia Tech’s iconic entrance song. That choice alone seemed like harmless trolling, but his caption is what drew attention.

“Can’t stay in my lane, call me Caleb Woodson,” Colasurdo wrote, an obvious reference to the Hokie linebacker’s recent arrest.
The comment added fuel to what has already been a rocky offseason for Woodson. Back in July, he was also cited for reckless driving after being clocked at 96 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. He now faces two separate court dates in September.
While Woodson’s season began with a disappointing loss, Colasurdo—whose unit delivered a momentum-swinging 80-yard punt return touchdown—chose to pile on by mocking his opponent’s off-field issues.
