“From Columbia to Dallas: Gamecock Legend Jadeveon Clowney Shocks NFL World with Cowboys Move”

South Carolina Great Jadeveon Clowney Signs with Dallas Cowboys

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina football legend Jadeveon Clowney is officially headed to Dallas. According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed on Sunday that the three-time Pro Bowl pass rusher has signed with the franchise.

The news came shortly after Dallas’ dramatic overtime win against the New York Giants. While the announcement created buzz, it wasn’t entirely unexpected—Clowney had visited the Cowboys last week as part of his free-agent search.

Clowney, 32, became available earlier this offseason after the Carolina Panthers released him on May 8, cutting ties after just one year of a two-year deal he signed in 2023.

Despite the abrupt ending in Carolina, Clowney appears eager to embrace a fresh start in Dallas. It marks the latest step in a career that began when he was selected No. 1 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.

The former South Carolina Gamecock star left an indelible mark in Columbia, earning first-team All-American honors in 2012 and 2013 while being named the 2012 SEC Defensive Player of the Year. His dominance at USC catapulted him into NFL stardom and helped secure his place as one of the most feared defenders in the game.

Across 11 NFL seasons, Clowney has built an impressive résumé, recording 58 sacks, 139 quarterback hits, 409 tackles, and 15 forced fumbles.

Now, the Rock Hill, S.C., native is preparing to take the field with one of the NFL’s most storied franchises. For Clowney, it’s a new chapter—one that links his legacy from the Gamecocks to one of the league’s biggest stages in Dallas.
