Gamecock Legacy: Stephen Garcia’s Son Visiting South Carolina This Weekend

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) — A familiar name is returning to Columbia this weekend, as Memphys Garcia, the son of former South Carolina quarterback Stephen Garcia, announced his visit to the Gamecocks’ program.

In a Thursday post on X, Memphys shared that he’ll be attending South Carolina’s home game against Alabama on Saturday as part of his recruitment journey.

Memphys’ father, Stephen Garcia, was a standout under center for the Gamecocks from 2007 to 2011, compiling a 20–14 record as a starter while throwing for over 8,000 yards and 47 touchdowns during his collegiate career. He will also be honored at Saturday’s game as a member of the 2010 South Carolina team — the last Gamecocks squad to defeat Alabama.

According to his X bio, Memphys Garcia currently plays quarterback at Jefferson High School in the Tampa, Florida area, continuing his father’s legacy at the same position.
