South Carolina football’s 2026 recruiting class continues to shine on the high school stage, especially within the Palmetto State. All six in-state commitments—spread across five different programs—reached the SCHSL Playoffs, and as the postseason moves into Round 4, four Gamecock commits are still competing for state championships.
Currence Leads the Charge in 4A
Four-star safety J’Zavien Currence, the top-ranked South Carolina prospect in the Gamecocks’ 2026 class, continues to carry South Pointe High School deep into the playoffs. Serving double duty as the Stallions’ quarterback, Currence guided the No. 1-seeded team to a dominant third-round win over AC Flora. South Pointe now prepares for the Upper State finals, where they’ll face Westside for a shot at the 4A state title game. If they advance, they’ll meet the winner of South Florence vs. Gray Collegiate.
Currence isn’t South Pointe’s only future Gamecock. Three-star offensive lineman Anthony Baxter, the longest-standing member of USC’s 2026 class, also plays a key role for the Stallions. Baxter has been committed since May 2024.
Patterson Powers Indian Land to the 5A Semifinals
Four-star receiver Sequel Patterson, who recently reclassified from the 2027 cycle to 2026, continues to make waves for Indian Land High School. The Warriors narrowly edged TL Hanna last week to secure a spot in the 5A Division II Upper State championship. Their next hurdle is a showdown with Northwestern, with the winner advancing to meet either Irmo or Berkeley for the state crown.
Ramsey Keeps Cross Rolling in 1A
At the 1A level, three-star tight end Caden Ramsey helped Cross High School cruise past Johnsonville. The Trojans—ranked the top seed in their classification—advance to the Lower State finals against Bamberg-Ehrhardt. A victory would send them to the state championship to face either Lewisville or Lamar.
Guiles, Lewis Eliminated Earlier Rounds
Four-star offensive lineman Zyon Guiles of Carvers Bay saw his playoff run end in Round 3 with a loss to Bamberg-Ehrhardt, while three-star athlete Triston Lewis and his Greenwood squad bowed out earlier this postseason against Gaffney. Though Lewis will play defensive back for South Carolina, he served as Greenwood’s quarterback this fall.
Gamecock Targets Across the State Still Making Noise
South Carolina isn’t just watching its commitments—they’re also monitoring a long list of targets still alive in the postseason:
- Dutch Fork features 2026 four-star EDGE target Julian Walker—a Michigan commit who has been visiting USC frequently—plus 2027 three-star DL Jaden Wuerth.
