Dear Santa,
We know we’re cutting it close. Christmas is almost here, your inbox is probably overflowing, and December has once again delivered its usual chaos — NIL negotiations, transfer portal rumors, bowl season promises, and everything else that comes with it.
Still, we’re hoping this note finds you in time.
We only have one request. Just one.
Please don’t let LaNorris Sellers leave South Carolina.
We swear we’ve been good… mostly.
Yes, we complained during a 4–8 season — loudly, repeatedly, and sometimes in all caps. Yes, we argued with strangers online and shouted into the social media abyss. But we also stayed. We showed up. We wore garnet and black with pride. We defended the future when the present felt like, well, “character building.”
And Santa, that future has a name.
LaNorris Sellers.
Santa, he’s the future — and you know it
We’ve watched enough football to know the difference between a flash of potential and a real promise. Sellers isn’t an illusion. He’s the kind of quarterback you build an entire program around. Not for a year or two, but for an identity. The kind of name that just fits, like it was always meant to be part of the tradition.
And sure, Santa, patience isn’t exactly popular in college football anymore — especially in Columbia lately. But we promise we’ll do better. Because Sellers is worth waiting for. Worth protecting. Worth developing the right way.
Look, we got him help (this time it’s different)
We know we’ve struggled. A 4–8 season is hard to defend. We’ve heard the criticism. We’ve watched the film breakdowns. We know the offensive line has to improve. We know the scheme has to evolve.
That’s why next year feels different.
This time, South Carolina isn’t asking Sellers to figure it out alone. They aren’t handing him chaos and calling it development. They’ve added experience. They’ve added structure. They’ve brought in a coordinator who understands how to protect quarterbacks and design explosive plays.
Santa, we promise — we’re taking this seriously.
And Santa, please ignore the portal whispers
We know the rumors are out there. We know other programs are watching. We know NIL offers are being waved around like shiny ornaments, and promises are being tucked into stockings by the fireplace.
But Santa, we’re not asking for a miracle.
We’re just asking for a little more time.
We’ll leave cookies (and maybe a new O-line)
Here’s the deal: we’ll leave the cookies. We’ll leave the milk.
We’ll even stop doom-posting — at least until spring practice, okay?
All we ask is this: let LaNorris Sellers wake up on Christmas morning still a Gamecock.
Because some things matter more than one season.
And some wishes are worth believing in.
Love and touchdowns,
Gamecock Nation
