Shane Beamer CLEARS THE AIR on Nyck Harbor’s Injury as South Carolina Emerges Victorious
Despite record-breaking heat, South Carolina walked away from its 57-0 win over Kent State in excellent shape health-wise. The temperature had already climbed to 95 degrees by kickoff, immediately making it the hottest home game on record, and conditions only intensified as the afternoon progressed and the crowd began to thin out.
Head coach Shane Beamer highlighted the team’s resilience afterward: “Hottest game in the history of the football program, and we had no one cramping. We had no issues like that. We came out of it healthy. That’s a kudos to the young men in our program, and then all the people in our program that do their job at a high level.”
On the injury front, there wasn’t much new to report. Star receiver Nyck Harbor briefly left the game in the second quarter after his helmet collided with a Kent State player’s, but he returned for the start of the second half. Beamer downplayed the scare: “Yeah, Nyck’s fine. I think he got hit somewhere on the shoulder or neck or something like that. He was just sore for a minute, but he’s fine.” Harbor went on to finish the day with five catches for 70 yards.
South Carolina returns home next Saturday, Sept. 12, to host Towson, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. on SEC Network+.
