“Brotherly Breakout: LaNorris Sellers Finds a New Favorite Target as Freshman Brother Jayden Shines in Debut!”

On Saturday afternoon, South Carolina freshman wide receiver Jayden Sellers made the most of his first real opportunity — and impressed in the process.

Sellers, one of six scholarship freshman receivers on the 2025 Gamecocks roster, entered the season as the only one not rated a four-star prospect by the Rivals Industry Ranking. Yet in the Gamecocks’ 26-7 loss to No. 14 Oklahoma, the younger Sellers delivered one of the few bright spots, leading the team with six receptions for 57 yards in his collegiate debut.

His older brother — starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers — said he was proud of how composed Jayden looked in his first true college action.

“He went in there, his first SC game, first real college game, and he got a lot of burn,” LaNorris said. “I told him throughout the week, stuff is going to be there, I’m gonna spread it out there to you.”

Jayden’s six catches came on five official targets, tying Nyck Harbor for the second-most on the team, while fellow freshman Donovan Murph led the wideouts with six targets.

Jayden’s opportunity came after Brian Rowe was suspended for a “violation of team standards,” according to head coach Shane Beamer.

“Jayden got an opportunity. That’s what happens — it’s the next man up,” Beamer said. “And I thought he did a great job.”

LaNorris also revealed that he had been preparing Jayden throughout the week for potential game reps, focusing on timing and physicality.

“Those smoke routes I told you about earlier, those were there,” LaNorris explained. “I tried to give him a ball, tried to get him hit a couple of times. He took a good one, but other than that, he was fine.”

Beamer praised Jayden’s work ethic, saying his consistent effort in practice helped earn him the chance to contribute on game day.

“He’s been practicing the right way. He brings some juice to the offense,” Beamer said. “He’s a competitor. I like the way he practices. And when you practice the right way, you get opportunities on Saturdays.”

For a South Carolina team searching for positives amid a frustrating season, the Sellers brothers’ connection might just be one of the first real sparks of promise for the Gamecocks’ offense.
