COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer says the Gamecocks are still waiting for clarity on the health of several key players ahead of Saturday’s SEC showdown with Oklahoma.
During his Tuesday press conference, Beamer confirmed that offensive linemen Cason Henry, Nolan Hay, Shed Sarratt, and defensive back Brandon Cisse are all listed as questionable for the upcoming matchup.
“I’m sure you’ll ask about injuries,” Beamer said. “I’d say all of those guys that you want to know about — they’re all questionable.”
Key Injuries That Could Impact the Game
The Gamecocks suffered multiple injuries during last weekend’s loss at LSU.
- Shed Sarratt went down with an ankle injury early in the game, during Matthew Fuller’s 72-yard touchdown run that briefly gave South Carolina the lead. While the team celebrated, Sarratt remained on the ground until trainers arrived. He was later seen on crutches.
- Brandon Cisse injured his knee in the second quarter and needed assistance off the field after being examined by medical staff. He was later spotted with a brace around his left leg.
Meanwhile, both Cason Henry and Nolan Hay continue to battle lingering issues. Henry, who injured his shoulder during the Vanderbilt game, briefly returned against Missouri but exited after just one play. Hay, who started that same game, left with a knee injury and hasn’t played since.
Beamer expressed optimism that both could return soon.
“I hate that for them and for us, but hopefully we can get those guys back soon,” Beamer said during his call-in show last week.
“Hopefully it won’t be long term. [Henry] did some tests this week, and we’re still waiting to hear back the plan of attack for him.”
SEC Injury Report Protocol
Fans won’t have to wait long for official updates. The first SEC injury availability report of the week drops Wednesday at 8 p.m., with follow-ups on Thursday and Friday, and a final update 90 minutes before kickoff.
The SEC adopted its formal injury reporting system last year, requiring teams to list players as available, probable, doubtful, or questionable leading up to game day, and as available, game-time decision, or out on game day. Schools that fail to comply face fines ranging from $25,000 to $100,000.
What’s Next
South Carolina (3–3, 1–3 SEC) will host Oklahoma (5–1, 1–1 SEC) on Saturday, Oct. 18, with kickoff set for 12:45 p.m. ET on the SEC Network. Beamer is expected to provide another injury update during his Thursday night call-in show.
Injury Watch:
- Cason Henry (shoulder) – Questionable
- Nolan Hay (knee) – Questionable
- Shed Sarratt (ankle) – Questionable
- Brandon Cisse (knee) – Questionable
Each player’s availability could significantly impact South Carolina’s lineup as the team looks to rebound in conference play.
