California standout Kaeli Wynn has officially committed to South Carolina women’s basketball, announcing her decision Monday night on social media.
The 6-foot-2 forward visited Columbia twice this fall — first for an official visit on September 5 and then again with close friend Jerzy Robinson on October 24.
Ranked No. 17 by ESPN, No. 22 by Rivals, and No. 38 by 247Sports, Wynn is one of the top prospects in the 2026 class. Despite missing part of last season due to a dislocated knee, she still averaged 17.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and shot 43% from three, earning MaxPreps All-American honorable mention honors.
Wynn plays for powerhouse Mater Dei High School in Los Angeles and comes from a family steeped in basketball tradition. Her mother, a former Southern Cal player and teammate of Lisa Leslie, later became head coach at Long Beach, Washington, and now Mater Dei.
Explaining her decision to ESPN, Wynn said:
“I chose South Carolina because of Coach Staley’s leadership, the program’s championship culture and the energy of Gamecock Nation that made Columbia feel like home. I’m looking forward to competing at the highest level and helping the Gamecocks win more SEC and national championships.”
Her sister Jada Wynn has also had an impressive basketball journey, playing for Colorado and Texas Tech before transferring to UC Irvine, where their father Derek Wynn serves as an assistant coach.
Before committing to the Gamecocks, Kaeli took unofficial visits to Stanford, Texas Tech, and Michigan State, and an official visit to Stanford over Halloween weekend.
Known for her versatility and high basketball IQ, Wynn describes herself as a “do-it-all player” capable of excelling at multiple positions — a reflection of her upbringing under two experienced coaches.
Wynn now joins 6-4 forward Kelsi Andrews, who committed on October 7, as part of South Carolina’s 2026 recruiting class. The Gamecocks remain active in pursuing top international and national talents, including Jerzy Robinson, Brihanna Crittendon, Alicia Tournebize (France), and Sara Okeke (Spain).
