“Major Thursday Injury: Updates on Nyck Harbor, Cisse and Solomon Revealed”

With South Carolina closing the regular season with two out-of-conference opponents, the team won’t be issuing an official SEC availability report ahead of its showdowns with Coastal Carolina and Clemson. Yet head coach Shane Beamer still offered a detailed update on the statuses of Nyck Harbor, Brandon Cisse, and Jalewis Solomon during his Thursday night call-in show.

Beamer revealed that one defensive back is out, one is in, and one remains uncertain.

“Jalewis won’t play; he’ll be out another week,” Beamer confirmed. “Cisse definitely will play, and then I would say Nyck is somewhere in the middle.”

Harbor is coming off the best performance of his freshman season, recording three receptions for a career-high 102 yards in the loss at Texas A&M. His highlight moment was an 80-yard catch-and-run touchdown in the second quarter that stretched South Carolina’s lead to 27–3.

However, his night took a concerning turn when he left the game after a hard fall on a late fourth-down grab. Medical staff eventually transported him to a hospital for precautionary evaluation.

Beamer explained the nature of the injury, saying it was “more [of an] upper body [injury] from the hit that he took on the sideline against A&M, where he made the catch.” He added praise for the play itself: “Great catch on the sideline and the guy came down on his chest.”

Harbor’s tests kept him overnight in College Station, but he returned to Columbia on Sunday.

“He was back in the building on Sunday and has been back at practice every single day this week and we’ll see how he continues to progress,” Beamer said. “But he’s been in great spirits and excited to see him get well.”

The team didn’t disclose Cisse’s injury, though the defensive back—typically a core contributor—was limited to just 28 snaps at Texas A&M.

Solomon’s issue stems from practice last week. Beamer noted previously that the freshman, who had begun to find a role on special teams, “aggravated something” during last Thursday’s session.

South Carolina now turns its attention back to game week, preparing to host Coastal Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. on the SEC Network.
