“South Carolina Honours Six Gamecock Legends : A’ja Wilson Leads Star-Studded 2025 USC Hall of Fame Induction Class”

The University of South Carolina is set to honor six of its all-time greats this weekend as part of the 2025 USC Lettermen’s Association Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The newest class includes standout athletes from across multiple sports — each leaving a lasting mark on Gamecock history.

The inductees are:

  • A’ja Wilson (Women’s Basketball, 2014–2018)
  • Natasha Hastings (Women’s Track and Field, 2005–2007)
  • Brandon Hulko (Men’s Diving, 1999–2002)
  • Paul Jubb (Men’s Tennis, 2016–2020)
  • Akram Mahmoud (Men’s Swimming, 2014–2018)
  • Mollie Patton (Women’s Soccer, 2006–2010)

Headlining the 2025 class is none other than A’ja Wilson, one of the greatest basketball players in South Carolina and WNBA history. During her time in Columbia, Wilson was a four-time All-American, the 2017 National Champion, and the sweeper of every major National Player of the Year award in 2018. Since becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft, she has gone on to win three WNBA titles, four MVP awards, three Defensive Player of the Year honors, and two Olympic gold medals. Her No. 22 jersey now hangs proudly in the rafters of Colonial Life Arena.

Another Gamecock legend, Mollie Patton, made her mark as one of the best goalkeepers in South Carolina women’s soccer history. She holds the single-season record for shutouts and was named an All-American in 2009. Patton earned Team MVP honors in both 2008 and 2009, and played a key role in securing South Carolina’s first SEC Championship, famously blocking a penalty kick against LSU to clinch the title.

Akram Mahmoud, originally from Egypt, became one of the most decorated swimmers in program history. A 10-time All-American, Mahmoud specialized in the freestyle events, capturing three SEC Championships and a silver medal at the 2016 NCAA Championships in the 1650-meter freestyle. He still holds several school records.

In men’s tennis, Paul Jubb made history by becoming the first Gamecock to win a singles National Championship. A two-time All-SEC selection and All-American, Jubb also earned the 2020 Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership & Scholarship Award and finished as South Carolina’s all-time leader in SEC wins at the No. 1 singles position.

Brandon Hulko, one of the university’s top divers, earned seven All-American honors during his collegiate career — three in the one-meter dive, two in the three-meter, and two in the platform event. He also claimed three SEC bronze medals and was named USC’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2002. Hulko represented Team USA and participated in the 2004 Olympic Trials.

Natasha Hastings, one of the fastest women ever to compete for South Carolina, was a three-time NCAA Champion and earned 10 All-American honors. She captured seven SEC titles and set a school record in the indoor 400-meter dash. Academically accomplished as well, Hastings was named the 2007 SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. After graduation, she became a two-time Olympic gold medalist as part of Team USA’s 4x400m relay teams in 2008 and 2016.

The six new inductees will officially join the USC Athletics Hall of Fame on Thursday, October 23, with a special on-field recognition during the Gamecocks’ football showdown against Alabama on Saturday, October 25 at Williams-Brice Stadium.

This year’s class showcases not only championship-level talent but also the enduring legacy of excellence that defines South Carolina athletics.
