Two Gamecock starters unlikely to play this week vs. Vanderbilt

South Carolina rolled past SC State 38-10 last weekend, but the victory came with injury concerns. Multiple starters left the game banged up, leaving head coach Shane Beamer uneasy afterward.

“It’s not good,” Beamer said on Saturday when asked about the team’s health.

By Sunday, however, his tone had shifted. After further evaluations, Beamer said he was “optimistic that almost everyone would be good to play against Vanderbilt” when the Gamecocks (2-0) host the Commodores (2-0) on Saturday night.

On Wednesday, USC released its first SEC-mandated student-athlete availability report, a new rule introduced last season to mirror the NFL-style injury reports. These updates are intended to give fans a clearer picture of who is likely to take the field.

Here’s how South Carolina’s first report of 2025 looks:

Probable

  • DB Brandon Cisse
  • DB Vicari Swain
  • DB Jaquel Holman

Doubtful

  • DB Judge Collier
  • TE Brady Hunt

Collier, who went down in the season opener at Virginia Tech, was seen with a knee brace and remained on crutches as of last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Hunt — the senior tight end hurt against SC State — is the biggest concern moving forward. Beamer admitted he wasn’t optimistic about Hunt’s chances, noting more tests were still being run.

South Carolina and Vanderbilt will release further availability updates on Thursday and Friday, with a final status report 90 minutes before kickoff.
